Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced a large-scale operation against US military facilities in the Middle East.
According to a statement released by the IRGC, 85 military targets belonging to the US were struck using rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles. The strikes reportedly targeted the Al-Salem air base in Kuwait and the US Navy's Fifth Fleet base at Salman port in Bahrain.
The statement also claims that an MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the US was destroyed.
The IRGC emphasized that the attacks were carried out in response to strikes the US had launched against Iranian territory the previous night.
Earlier, officials from Bahrain and Kuwait reported that their air defense systems were activated to neutralize rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Recall that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) previously stated it had struck targets in Iranian territory in response to Iranian attacks on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
It should be noted that the IRGC's claims about striking 85 military targets and destroying an MQ-9 unmanned vehicle have not yet been confirmed by the US Department of Defense or other independent sources.
