An Arkia passenger flight bound from Tel Aviv to Podgorica, Montenegro, on August 23 encountered a severe incident that eyewitnesses described as extremely difficult.
Jnews.az reports that during the flight, the crew received a message from airport ground services regarding aircraft maintenance issues. As a result, the aircraft was unable to land at its destination and diverted to the Albanian capital, Tirana.
Bus Transfers and Overnight Delays
The situation required a large-scale logistical operation. Passengers arriving in Albania were urgently transferred to buses to be transported to Montenegro, while those waiting for the return flight were carried by road in the opposite direction.
For return flight passengers, departure was accompanied by repeated schedule postponements. Around 300 people waited for departure under uncertain conditions before a convoy of five buses headed toward Tirana.
Arkia management stated that passengers received prompt updates via email and SMS. The remaining passengers were accommodated in a hotel near the airport, and a separate relief flight to Israel was later organized for them.
