The Central Unit of the Israeli Police in the Jerusalem District stopped an event linked to the Palestinian Authority in the Old City.
Jnews.az reports that police stated the event was planned in violation of legal requirements.
Operational intelligence gathered by law enforcement agencies was passed to Police Commissioner Dani Levi, Jerusalem District Commander Avshalom Peled, and Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Based on the information obtained, Ben-Gvir signed an order banning the event.
Following this, officers from the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District and the David Sub-District police arrived at the scene and found signs of preparation for the ceremony. Police informed several individuals present in the area about the prohibition of the event.
Police stated that operational intelligence is continuously gathered to strengthen security and control in Jerusalem, including the city’s Arab neighborhoods.
Law enforcement agencies report taking measures to prevent activities related to terrorist infrastructure, as well as illegal events and conferences of the Palestinian Authority. Police noted that such activities could lead to provocative calls, increased tension, and disruption of the daily life of city residents.
