On the night of August 25, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a series of strikes on facilities belonging to Russia’s energy sector.

Jnews.az reports that according to information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai was struck. A fire broke out on the premises of the enterprise, and the scale of the damage is currently being clarified. It is reported that the plant’s annual design capacity is 6.25 million tons.

Governor of Krasnodar Krai Veniamin Kondratyev also confirmed a drone attack on the settlement of Afipsky. According to him, as a result of drone debris falling on the Afipskaya railway station, two people were killed and two were injured. In addition, at least 10 private residential houses were damaged.

Meanwhile, in the Rostov region, the Novoshakhtinsk Petroleum Products Plant came under attack. Regional Governor Yuri Slyusar stated that the enterprise’s operations were temporarily suspended due to damage. It was not disclosed which equipment at the plant was damaged as a result of the attack or when operations will be restored.

According to Slyusar, during the night hours, about 30 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense systems across various areas of the Rostov region. In the Kamensky district, the falling drone debris caused a forest fire over an area of 4.5 hectares, and four private residential houses were also damaged.

The day before, on the night of August 24, the Ukrainian side announced that two U-272 gas separation units at the Astrakhan gas processing plant were struck. The enterprise is part of the «Gazprom» structure.

Other incidents have also occurred in Russia’s oil refining sector in recent days. On August 21, following an unmanned aerial vehicle attack at the Perm oil refinery, the operation of a primary oil refining unit was suspended. The plant belongs to the company «Lukoil,» and it is reported that repairs could take one to two weeks.
