The implementation of international expertise in the institutional development of Azerbaijani swimming continues.

Jnews.az reports that Boro Strumbelj has been engaged to cooperate in swimming education and the training of local specialists, organized by the Swimming Federation of Azerbaijan (ASF) with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee (NOC), and the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Olympic Solidarity programme.

Under the leadership and oversight of Boro Strumbelj, who served as president of the Slovenian Swimming Association from 2019 to 2024, work will be carried out to certify and license coaches and referees in Azerbaijan, improve the teaching process at the Azerbaijan Sport Academy, and advance the "Learn to Swim" project.

An associate professor at the Faculty of Sport at the University of Ljubljana, Boro Strumbelj has extensive experience in sports science, sports diagnostics, water safety, and coach training.

He previously served as chair and co-chair of the "Learn to Swim" Commission of European Aquatics. He currently heads the Social Responsibility Commission of the same organization.

The involvement of international expert experience in Azerbaijani swimming is considered an important step toward improving the training system for local specialists and supporting the future development of the sport.
