Within the framework of the Fourth Shusha Global Media Forum, Hikmet Hajiyev, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, met with D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization Secretary General Sohail Mahmud, Organization Director Mustafa Özcan, and Executive Assistant to the Secretary General Muhammad Bilal Khan. During this meeting held in Shusha, the future directions of cooperation between Azerbaijan and D-8 were discussed.
President Aliyev's initiative recalled
During the meeting, Hikmet Hajiyev drew attention to President Ilham Aliyev's initiative regarding the establishment of a Media Excellence Center within the D-8 framework in Azerbaijan. He noted that based on this very initiative, the first D-8 Media Forum was organized in Azerbaijan last year. Currently, the launch of the D-8 Media Excellence Center is regarded as a logical continuation of this initiative.
Thanks and congratulations from Secretary General
D-8 Secretary General Sohail Mahmud welcomed the establishment of the Center in Azerbaijan and expressed his gratitude for this step. During the conversation, the parties thoroughly reviewed the potential role of the Center.
Center's areas of activity
It was emphasized during the meeting that the D-8 Media Excellence Center will play an important platform role for member states. The Center's activities will cover professional training of media representatives, discussion of artificial intelligence and new challenges in the media sector, organization of training on combating disinformation, as well as experience exchange between countries.
