Israel, through its security agencies, informed the U.S. that the pilot program regarding transferring control of certain areas in southern Lebanon to the Lebanese army has effectively failed.

Jnews.az reports that, according to information published by The Jerusalem Post citing senior security officials, the Lebanese army is not destroying Hezbollah’s infrastructure based on coordinates provided by the Israeli military and, in addition, continues to request new information.

According to sources, in one instance, Lebanese soldiers arrived at the designated area, entered an underground facility for only a few meters, and then turned back and left.

Israeli officials believe that Lebanese Army Commander Rudolf Haykal is avoiding direct confrontation with Hezbollah and is not taking sufficient steps toward discovering the organization’s weapons as well as destroying its military infrastructure.

According to sources, there is effectively no serious confrontation or pressure between the Lebanese army and Hezbollah.

For this reason, Israel is in no rush for now to expand the pilot program to other areas in southern Lebanon.
