Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has temporarily delayed several flights on the Baku–Nakhchivan–Baku route scheduled for August 29.
Jnews.az reports that, according to information released by the airline, the decision was made due to adverse weather conditions observed in the direction of Nakhchivan, particularly thunderstorms and lightning.
Flights will resume after weather stabilizes
AZAL stated that flight operations will resume after meteorological conditions normalize. Passengers will be promptly informed in the event of any changes to the flight schedule.
The airline advised passengers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
Nakhchivan’s terrain may affect flights
The company’s statement noted that the geographical location and mountainous terrain of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic make the region more sensitive to sharp changes in weather conditions.
Strong winds, sudden changes in wind direction, and stormy weather can create additional risks during aircraft takeoff and landing.
The decision was made for passenger safety
AZAL emphasized that decisions to delay or cancel flights are made based on current and forecasted meteorological conditions along the route, as well as at departure and arrival airports.
It was noted that these measures are implemented in accordance with international aviation safety standards in order to protect the lives and health of passengers.
