Tel Aviv, July 13 — Israeli basketball club Hapoel has signed American basketball player Amir Coffey to its roster.

The club has signed the 29-year-old player to a one-year contract. This transfer will mark Coffey’s first professional appearance outside the United States.

Amir Coffey played seven seasons in the NBA. During that time, he wore the uniforms of the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns. The basketball player appeared in 369 games throughout his NBA career. He is remembered for averaging 6.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Coffey shot 52.8 percent from two-point range and 38.2 percent from three-point range.

Hapoel head coach Dimitris Itoudis expressed satisfaction with the new transfer. According to him, Amir Coffey is an experienced basketball player with the ability to benefit the team on both offensive and defensive ends, with the capability to play multiple positions.

It is worth noting that Hapoel’s roster also includes players with NBA experience: Vasily Micic, Isaiah Wainright, Taylor Ennis, and Daniel Oturu.

Basketball runs in Amir Coffey’s family. His sister Nia Coffey currently plays for the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. His father Richard Coffey previously played for the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.
