Venice, July 13 – The prestigious 61st International Art Biennale, running from July 16 to September 16 in Venice, will showcase «Nabatele,» an architectural and art installation dedicated to Jewish cultural heritage.
History and Contemporary Unity
The project’s creator is painter and architect Anna Kamishandi, who lives in London. The art installation draws inspiration from the architectural style of historic synagogues in Eastern European Jewish villages. Positioned on water, the structure evokes a place suspended in air.
Technical and Symbolic Details
This massive 25-meter-high installation is filled with helium. Through this technical solution, the structure moves constantly under the influence of wind currents, creating a dynamic visual effect. The project’s most striking moment is observed during evening hours:
- Illumination: The installation’s windows emit light at night.
- Meaning: These lights symbolize the «eternal light» tradition in Jewish sources, keeping historical memory alive through contemporary artistic language.
Next Stop: North America
The «Nabatele» project, expected to generate significant interest among art enthusiasts, will continue its journey after the Biennale concludes. The installation is planned to be transported to North America and displayed in various cities.
