Israel's most famous tourist attraction, the Bahai Gardens and Bab Mausoleum, is competing to be included in the new seven wonders of the world list.

Within the framework of a new international initiative launched by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the world's new seven wonders will be selected from the most prominent structures built after 1801. The project launched on July 7, and anyone can now nominate a building of their choice.

In the new selection, not only architectural beauty will be a key criterion, but also the building's contribution to tourism, the country's economy, and urban development. Examples in line with the project include the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Egypt. However, the official list of nominees has not yet been announced.

The Bahai Gardens and Bab Mausoleum, located in Israel and included in UNESCO's World Heritage List, are also mentioned among potential nominees. This complex, visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists annually, is considered one of the country's most recognizable symbols.

According to the project's timeline, the list of 70 nominees will be announced on January 7, 2027. Following this, an international vote will be held, and by April 7, 2027, the list will be narrowed down to 30 finalists. The names of the world's new seven wonders will be announced on July 7, 2027.

It should be noted that this initiative is considered a continuation of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" project held in 2007, which selected the Colosseum, Petra, Machu Picchu, the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, and other famous monuments. This time, however, attention is focused on architectural examples built after the 19th century.
