Arraba, July 13 — Israel Police’s Northern District announced the detention of six Palestinian Authority residents found living in the country without legal status in the city of Arraba.
According to a statement released by the police, the operation took place during a raid conducted on July 6 in the Galilee region to locate suspects linked to a shooting and other criminal offences. Law enforcement officers pursued a group of individuals who attempted to flee upon spotting patrol vehicles near the operation area.
Six people from Hebron, Jenin, Qalqilya and Khan Yunis were detained. The investigation established that they had been residing in Israeli territory without the required permits. The detainees were taken to a police station for questioning. In the course of the investigation, a 48-year-old resident of Arraba was also arrested on suspicion of having provided housing to Palestinians living illegally in the country.
Based on the evidence gathered, charges were filed against both the property owner and the six Palestinian Authority residents found to be living in Israel unlawfully. The police prosecution applied to the Akko Magistrate’s Court requesting that the defendants be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
