Iranian parliament member Hamid Rasaei, known for his hardline positions, posted an open threat against US President Donald Trump on social media.
According to foreign media reports, Rasaei published a post on Iran's "Virasty" social media platform targeting Trump's presence in Turkey for the NATO summit, calling for a missile strike on the location where he is staying. The MP also used insulting language about Trump in the post.
"Trump being in Turkey is a good opportunity to strike the place where he is staying with a missile."
The post quickly sparked widespread discussion on social media. As of now, neither Iranian officials nor security agencies have issued an official statement regarding the MP's remarks.
It should be noted that Donald Trump is in Ankara to attend the NATO summit. The summit coincides with a period of heightened tensions in the Middle East and an increasingly strained relationship between the United States and Iran.
