Against the backdrop of talks with Israel, all contacts between the Lebanese government and Hezbollah have reportedly ceased. Meanwhile, the Lebanese army has begun preparations to strengthen security measures in the country's south.
According to information released by the Nidaa Al-Watan newspaper, the Lebanese Armed Forces are preparing a logistics plan for the deployment of military forces in southern regions in accordance with a framework agreement reached with Israel. According to sources, full implementation of the plan could take several weeks. However, the slowdown in the process is not being assessed as a halt or derailment of the talks.
The publication reports that since the start of talks with Israel, there has been no official or unofficial contact between the Lebanese government and Hezbollah leadership. This is due to the organization's harsh criticism of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and accusations of treason against the state. This has effectively paralyzed dialogue between the parties.
At the current stage, it is said that Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri is also unable to effectively fulfill his mediating role. It is reported that Hezbollah's main political decisions are made in Tehran, and therefore no significant changes in the organization's position are expected in the near future.
According to observers, the strengthening of the army's positions in Lebanon's south and the cessation of dialogue between Hezbollah and the government are considered important developments that could directly impact security and the political situation in the region.
