India, July 12 — India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disclosed that an Indian citizen is missing following a maritime incident near Oman's coast.
According to reports, the container ship "GFS Galaxy" sailing under the Cyprus flag had 11 Indian nationals on board. Ten of them have been rescued, but the fate of one person remains unknown. India's embassy in Oman is currently coordinating search and rescue operations with local authorities.
Iran's statement regarding the incident notes that the ship was moving on an unauthorized route and warning fire was opened on it.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has disclosed that the ship's engine compartment sustained serious damage as a result of the incident.
According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre (UKMTO), the container ship was moving along Oman's coast, passing through Iranian territorial waters.
