The Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery located in Russia’s Yaroslavl region has been attacked.

Jnews.az reports that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed on August 28 that the plant had been struck. According to reports, the strike resulted in a fire on the premises of the enterprise.

A fire broke out at the plant

According to the Ukrainian side, the attack was carried out during the night. Following the strike, a fire was recorded on the territory of the Slavneft-YANOS plant.

No detailed information has yet been released regarding the scale of the attack’s impact on the facility’s operations or the amount of damage caused.

The plant’s production capacity is 15 million tons

Slavneft-YANOS is considered one of Russia’s largest oil refining enterprises. The plant began operations in 1961 and currently has the capacity to process approximately 15 million tons of crude oil per year. The enterprise produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, lubricants, bitumen, and other petroleum products.

This is another strike delivered to the plant during 2026. Against the backdrop of the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, Russia’s oil refining and energy infrastructure has become one of the main targets of Ukraine’s long-range attacks in recent months.
