Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. The minister announced this on his X social media account.
Sybiha noted that even in the most difficult circumstances, diplomacy begins with direct dialogue. He emphasized that the main goal is to prevent further escalation of current tensions.
According to the minister, all of Ukraine's actions are aimed solely at protecting the country from Russian aggression. He added that targeting civilian ships or peaceful residents has never been the goal.
Sybiha called on Iran to refrain from steps that would aggravate the situation and to stop supporting Russia's war against Ukraine.
He also stated that Ukraine's position remains unchanged: both Europe and the Middle East deserve stability, security, and peace.
