Azerbaijani champion Sabah defeated Finnish representative KuPS in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round to advance to the next stage.
In the match held at the Väre Areena stadium in Kuopio, the capital club defeated its opponent 2-0. Having won the first match in Baku 1-0, Sabah secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round with a 3-0 aggregate advantage.
Although the score was not opened in the first half of the tense match, the Azerbaijani champion turned its advantage into goals in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Veljko Simic put his team ahead. In the 70th minute, Joy-Lance Mickels increased the difference to two goals, securing Sabah's confident victory.
The team led by head coach Valdas Dambrauskas did not give the opponent a serious chance with its disciplined game, solid defense and fast counter-attacks.
Sabah's next opponent will be determined based on the results of the UEFA draw.
