Baku's Neftchi football club has finalized the transfer of Freddy Vargas from Israel's Maccabi Netanya. The capital club's press service released information regarding the deal.
According to the agreement reached, the 27-year-old forward for the Venezuelan national team will wear the Neftchi jersey for 2+1 years.
Vargas was initially signed on a one-year loan from Maccabi in the summer of 2025 with an option to buy. During this period, the player scored 5 goals and provided 8 assists in 34 official matches.
It is worth noting that the spectacular goal scored by Freddy Vargas in the Azerbaijan Premier League match against Karvan-Yevlakh (0:3) in the 30th round sparked significant interest on social media. The video of that goal has garnered over 30 million views online.
