The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has developed its own Methane AI software designed to track and reduce methane emissions.
Jnews.az reports that this was announced by Mustafa Gurbanli, Head of the Environmental Disclosure and Green Initiatives Department at SOCAR, during a panel discussion at Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026).
According to Mustafa Gurbanli, the implementation of this system is part of the company’s corporate decarbonization program. The technology allows for data uploading to identify priority areas for emission reduction efforts and to forecast potential environmental risks.
The SOCAR representative noted that the company has already demonstrated the capabilities of Methane AI to regional partners. The developed product has generated significant interest, and the parties are currently discussing prospects for its further development and the organization of its joint use.
