The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that an infiltration attempt from southern Syria towards Israel was thwarted.
According to information released by the army, the incident occurred last night in a security zone near the Syrian village of Khader, approximately one kilometer from the Israeli border. Around 21:00, two armed individuals moving towards Israel were observed.
Following this, units from the IDF's
Etzioni
brigade and the 210th division were deployed. As a result of the military forces' intervention, the armed individuals were neutralized.
According to the IDF's initial assessment, the killed individuals were members of one of the local terrorist groups.
The army stated that the incident took place in a security zone established on Syrian territory, around the Golan Heights, after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, with the aim of ensuring the safety of local residents.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
