Japan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Katsuya Watanabe, along with his family members, visited the European Jewish Religious Community and the Sephardic Jewish Community operating in Baku. During the visit, the Japanese diplomat and his family members closely learned about the activities, history, religious traditions, and daily life of the capital's Jewish communities.
During the meeting, community representatives briefed the guests in detail on the centuries-old history of Jewish life in Azerbaijan, as well as the religious and cultural traditions preserved in the country. It was also highlighted that people belonging to different religions and cultures coexist in the country in an atmosphere of mutual respect and solidarity.
During the warm and friendly meeting, it was emphasized that such initiatives are of great importance for mutual understanding and the development of cultural ties between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Japan.
The Japanese diplomat's visit to the Jewish communities is considered an important step in terms of familiarization with the multicultural environment and traditions of respect for religious diversity in the country, as well as further strengthening intercultural dialogue and friendly relations.
