According to information provided by the State Examination Center (SEC) entrance exams for higher education institutions in Groups II and III were held in 25 cities and regions of Azerbaijan: Baku, Khankendi, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Shamkir, Aghstafa, Qazax, Sumgait, Absheron, Shaki, Mingachevir, Shaki, Zaqatala, Barda, Goychay, Ucar, Kurdamir, Shirvan, Sabirabad, Salyan, Lankaran, Jalilabad, Masally, Quba and Khachmaz.

Exam scale and organization

This year, a total of 41,622 applicants were expected to participate in the exam. The test was conducted in 172 buildings and 3,074 rooms. The process involved 172 general exam supervisors, 491 exam supervisors, 3,808 observers, 554 special needs assistants and 172 building representatives. The operational headquarters at the SEC maintained constant contact with exam buildings and monitored the progress of the process.

Sixty-seven applicants with disabilities participated in the exam, including those with visual impairments, cerebral palsy, hearing loss and other categories. Separate rooms were allocated for them in exam buildings; applicants with vision loss affecting 81–100 percent of organ function were assigned individual observers. Appropriate conditions were also created to ensure that participants with mobility restrictions could enter the buildings comfortably.

Rule violators disqualified

According to preliminary information, mobile phones were discovered on 11 applicants during the exam and they were disqualified. According to SEC regulations, participants who violate rules have their exam results annulled and are not admitted to specialty selection.

Results and next steps

Starting June 6, the SEC will begin processing exam protocols and materials. Since checking open-ended questions requires considerable time, results are planned to be announced two weeks later. On that day at 15:00, a live broadcast will be held on the SEC’s YouTube channel: responsible staff and experts will explain test questions and present correct answers to closed and coded open-ended questions. Applicants can submit their questions to the broadcast’s comment section.

The SEC has issued important reminders to applicants preparing for upcoming exams: original identity documents and admission letters must be brought; the exam starts at 10:00; the admission period begins at 09:45 — participants arriving after this time will not be admitted to the building. Each participant’s arrival time is specified separately on the admission letter and adherence to this time is recommended.
