China has announced the imposition of new export restrictions on 14 companies operating in the European Union (EU). The Chinese Ministry of Commerce released information regarding this decision.

Under the restrictions, the export of dual-use goods—products that can be used for both civilian and military purposes—to the mentioned companies is prohibited. Additionally, foreign companies and individuals will not be allowed to supply goods in this category to these enterprises.

The restricted companies include Germany's Rheinmetall, Italy's Lafert, the Czech Republic's TATRA TRUCKS, and other European companies.

Beijing stated that this step was taken in response to the latest sanctions package adopted by the European Union against Russia. Under that package, 14 companies operating in China were also included in the EU's sanctions list.

The European Union's latest sanctions package against Russia covers hundreds of individuals and legal entities, banks, and financial institutions. Brussels has also imposed restrictive measures against a number of foreign companies allegedly helping Russia evade international sanctions.
