On July 24, at least 11 people were killed and dozens sustained various injuries as a result of a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. According to him, the exact number of injured is still being determined, and all relevant agencies are operating in an enhanced mode.
The Ukrainian Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat from the north of the country at 11:25 a.m. local time. Shortly after, the movement of high-speed targets towards Kyiv and the Kyiv region was recorded, and an air alert was declared.
According to preliminary information, the strike hit the area where an event called "Defense Demo Day & Defense Expo" was being held. The event showcased new defense technologies developed for critical infrastructure protection, air defense, and other security sectors.
Rescuers are currently continuing the search for people trapped under the rubble. Ukrainian officials stated that all details of the incident are being investigated, and the number of dead and injured is being clarified.
