The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) has imposed additional restrictions on civil aviation in the Moscow airspace following an increase in drone attacks by Ukraine.
According to a NOTAM notice issued by Rosaviatsiya for airspace users, the maximum flight altitude for civil aircraft around Moscow airports has been reduced from 8,500 meters to 4,900 meters. At the same time, a ban has been placed on transit flights over the capital's airspace.
Aviation sources stated that the restrictions were implemented at the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The reason for this is the recent increase in attacks by Ukrainian UAVs directed toward Moscow.
Rosaviatsiya confirmed the implemented changes and announced that the new restrictions will remain in effect until August 12.
