US, July 13 — Jewish schools in the United States and Canada will begin teaching a new curriculum dedicated to the history of Zionism starting in the fall of 2026.
The new programme is being developed under the «Zionist Education Initiative Fellowship» project, run by the organisation Nefesh B’Nefesh. In the first phase of the project, teachers and administrators from 12 Jewish schools in the US and Canada took part in a five-day training programme held in Israel.
During the training, participants attended seminars on the history of Zionism, the development of Israeli society, archaeology, and modern teaching methods. They also explored historical sources at the Israel National Library and visited various museums and cultural institutions.
According to the information available, the new curriculum will initially be implemented in 12 Jewish schools across the US and Canada. The teaching materials will cover topics including the history of the Zionist movement, the historical ties of the Jewish people to Israel, Jewish identity, and modern Israeli society.
As part of the project, teachers will collaborate throughout the year to develop methodological resources, with each teacher creating a set of 12 lesson units on the subject of Zionism. The programme will conclude with a final gathering in New York, where the prepared materials will be presented.
In addition, Nefesh B’Nefesh is collaborating with Koren Publishers to develop a new Zionism textbook for upper grades in Jewish schools.
