The Defense Ministry announced that large-scale operational exercises were conducted under Ground Forces leadership in accordance with the 2026 preparation plan. The drills involved commando, motorized, mechanized and artillery brigades, enlisted personnel and officers from supply military units, as well as military personnel called up for reserve assembly.
Initial phase of exercises: movement, maneuvers, position-taking
In the initial phase, troops were brought to combat readiness. Personnel and equipment were transported by rail, while military units moved by road over long distances, including under limited visibility conditions. Operational and combat deployment areas were occupied directly; maneuvers demonstrated high organizational standards.
Simultaneously, live-fire tactical exercises, tactical-special training and combat firing were conducted at various training centers and ranges. Supply tasks were also worked out and prepared in practical fashion.
Modern equipment and combat tactics tested
Tactical activities were carried out taking into account the experience of the Patriotic War and armed conflicts that have occurred worldwide in recent years. Modern unmanned aerial vehicles in the Azerbaijani Army's arsenal, electronic warfare and radio-technical reconnaissance means, and high-precision weapons systems were applied in an integrated manner. Personnel performing air and radio-technical reconnaissance tasks demonstrated high professionalism.
During the exercises, new methods and techniques for combat operations were tested. Commanders' independent decision-making skills, personnel's high mobility and combat performance in mountainous and forested areas, as well as in populated areas, were improved.
Defense Ministry leadership positively assessed results
The Defense Ministry leadership directly monitored the course of the exercises. The combat activities of units and formations were positively assessed; it was noted that all assigned tasks were completed in full and the objectives of the exercises were achieved.
