Law enforcement authorities conduct searches at the residence of Gagik Tsarukyan, head of the opposition "Civil Contract" party and businessman in Armenia.
According to information from the party's spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan, security forces have cordoned off the area where Tsarukyan resides and are conducting investigative activities in his home. Currently, no official information has been disclosed regarding which criminal case the searches are being conducted under.
According to information distributed by Armenian media outlets, the operations are limited to Tsarukyan's residence. Law enforcement authorities are also conducting searches at a number of facilities under his supervision, including the Armenian National Olympic Committee headquarters, as well as the "Ararat" Cognac-Wine-Vodka Factory and the "Multi Wellness" sports complex.
The incident is assessed as the latest high-profile operation in Armenia's domestic political agenda. The operation, conducted at a time when relations between the authorities and opposition have become increasingly tense in recent months, has sparked extensive discussions in political circles. However, Armenia's Investigative Committee and other official bodies have not yet provided detailed explanations regarding the reason for the searches.
