Israel is sending an official rescue and humanitarian mission to Venezuela to support the country in overcoming the consequences of two devastating earthquakes.
According to information released by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation will depart for Venezuela on June 30. The main objective of the mission is to search for people trapped under debris, organize rescue operations, and provide technical support to local agencies.
One notable aspect is that Israel is taking this step despite the absence of diplomatic relations between the two countries since 2009.
The delegation includes employees from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and the Home Front Command.
The mission will be led by Ambassador Yoad Magen, who grew up in Venezuela, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Home Front Command's team will be commanded by its Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Elad Edri.
The team also includes engineers and specialists in search and rescue. It is reported that additional experts from the Home Front Command and the Israel National Emergency Management Authority will join them in the coming days.
According to Israeli officials, the mission will operate in close coordination with the Venezuelan side, and the work undertaken will be carried out in accordance with the real needs in the region.
