People's Artist of Azerbaijan, renowned actor, director, and screenwriter Tofiq Mirzayev has passed away at the age of 94.
According to reports, the artist passed away in Israel, where he had been living for many years. News of his death was first shared on social media by members of the arts community. No official statement regarding the cause of death has been released yet.
Tofiq Mirzayev was born on June 16, 1932, in Gadabay. Starting his creative career as a musician, he later became known as a television director and film actor. He created memorable roles in films such as "The Last Night of Childhood," "Nasimi," "Tahmina," "Find That Girl," "Interrogation," "The Life of Uzeyir," and others. The screen works he participated in have been included in the golden fund of Azerbaijani cinematography.
It should be noted that in 2022, Tofiq Mirzayev was awarded the honorary title of "People's Artist" for his services to the development of Azerbaijani cinema and was also awarded the "Shohrat" Order.
