Following Russia's powerful air assault on Ukraine's capital Kyiv in the early hours of July 2, the death toll has reached 10, with the number of injured reaching 34.

According to information provided by Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's City Military Administration, Russia struck the city intensively with unmanned aerial vehicles and other air attack weapons. In the initial hours of the assault, air defense systems near the capital were activated and residents were urged to remain in shelters until the air alert was lifted.

Tkachenko reported that strikes hit a total of 28 locations across the city. The attacks primarily targeted residential buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities located in the Obolon, Goloseevsky, Shevchenko, Svyatoshyn, and Podil districts. It is believed that people may remain trapped under the rubble.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko initially stated that the death toll was 5 and the number of injured was 34, but later Timur Tkachenko confirmed that the number of fatalities had risen to 10.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service released images reflecting the consequences of the attack. The footage showed burning residential buildings, rubble, and completely destroyed vehicles.

Officials stated that search and rescue operations are continuing and did not rule out that the death and injury toll could increase due to people potentially remaining trapped under the rubble.
