On the night of August 16, the Moscow region came under a large-scale unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack. According to Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, air defense systems neutralized 187 UAVs. Deaths and injuries were reported as a result of the attack.
In the town of Ramenskoye, an 83-year-old man lost his life as a result of the UAV attack. In Podolsk, three people were injured. Residential buildings and vehicles were damaged in various areas of the region.
The attacks caused fires at a number of major industrial and logistics facilities. In the Koledino industrial zone located in Podolsk, a fire broke out at a Wildberries warehouse spanning approximately 200,000 square meters, one of Russia’s largest logistics centers. The governor confirmed the incident, stating that none of the company’s employees were injured. It is also noted that a power transmission line was damaged in the city.
In Domodedovo, a fire was reported at a pharmaceutical warehouse. In Voskresensk, one of the main hubs of the Russian chemical industry, an industrial facility was damaged. In Kashira, a UAV struck a police department building.
It is reported that the attacks were not limited to the Moscow region. Information was released that a missile strike hit an industrial enterprise in the Samara region. The Progress Rocket Space Centre is named as the likely target of the attack.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed that four Russian warships were hit during a strike on Novorossiysk.
Additionally, it is reported that the Russian army also launched strikes on Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine.
