The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that a strike was carried out on Saturday, August 15, in the Deir al-Zahrani area of southern Lebanon, eliminating Abu Hassan Alaa, a senior commander in the Badr unit of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
According to the Israeli military command, the operation was a response to the group's actions against IDF troops operating in the security zone.
The IDF stated that Abu Hassan Alaa was involved in planning numerous attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, including the deployment of attack unmanned aerial vehicles. In recent years, he commanded several Hezbollah combat sectors and was directly involved in actions targeting Israeli soldiers and civilians.
Army officials emphasized that the elimination of Alaa inflicted significant damage on the operational command and leadership capabilities of the Badr unit.
