Oxford University professor David Kielak has criticized attempts to set rigid limits on the capabilities of artificial intelligence. According to the scientist, any categorical predictions about tasks that the technology will never be able to perform are unfounded.
Jnews.az reports that Kielak noted that despite the understanding of the training principles of modern neural networks, their behavior after this process is completed remains difficult to comprehend.
"We don't actually know what happens after this training; we don't know all the mechanisms that govern it," the mathematician explained.
A number of professions may change
According to the expert, professions based on processing large volumes of data, analytics, calculations, and text work are at the greatest risk of transformation.
In these fields, many routine tasks may shift to algorithms, which will lead to significant changes or the disappearance of a number of specialties in their current form.
New professions may emerge
At the same time, the professor emphasized that the development of technology could contribute to the emergence of new professions that are currently difficult to predict.
The speed of progress in this field is such that previous ideas about the capabilities of AI are rapidly losing their relevance.
