Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at the ‘SCO Plus’ meeting in Bishkek on September 1, reported on the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey. According to the head of government, Yerevan is actively working on establishing interstate ties and opening transport communications with neighboring countries.
Pashinyan noted that the negotiation process received momentum following the initialing of the peace agreement text between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 of last year, which took place with the support and participation of US President Donald Trump.
The TRIPP project will serve as a key instrument for unblocking transport routes. ‘Work on its practical implementation on the ground will begin in the coming months,’ the Prime Minister stated. He added that the project will create new opportunities both on the East-West axis, connecting the Caspian and Mediterranean Seas, and on the North-South axis, linking the Persian Gulf with the Black Sea.
According to the Armenian leader, the implementation of this project will benefit all countries in the region. Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia seeks to strengthen its sovereignty by promoting multipolarity, including by deepening friendly relations with Iran and Georgia.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also confirmed that developing relations with various power centers is an integral part of Armenia’s foreign policy strategy, which shares the vision of a multipolar world order.
