Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed concern over reports that Germany is developing its own nuclear program.
He said that following the attack on Iran, support for acquiring nuclear weapons as a means of protecting national sovereignty could grow in a number of countries.
Commenting on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Lavrov stressed that the continuation of military operations in the region is in the interests of neither Washington nor Tehran. According to him, Russia supports ending the conflict in these waters as soon as possible, as the confrontation is having a negative impact on the global economy.
The Russian diplomat also denied claims that Moscow is supplying weapons to Iran, adding that the spread of such reports is “a cause for concern.”
