Leaders of Persian Gulf countries have held successful negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump, persuading him to abandon plans to impose tariffs on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the CNN television channel.

According to sources, the leaders who negotiated with the American president included representatives from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Qatar. The parties discussed in detail the potential economic and geopolitical risks that could arise if this initiative were implemented.

Initially, Trump proposed a 20% levy on commercial cargo passing through the strait. During the discussion, the leaders of the Arab states managed to convey to the White House the detrimental impact this move would have on global trade and regional stability, after which the U.S. president agreed to abandon the idea.
