The 4th International Mine Action Conference continues in Baku, organized by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) in partnership with the UN representation in Azerbaijan.
Jnews.az reports that more than 400 delegates from 60 countries are participating in the conference held under the theme 'Humanitarian Mine Action for Urban Recovery: Establishing Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements'.
High-ranking government officials from various countries, representatives of UN agencies, international organizations, and national mine action centers, as well as staff from diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan, are participating in the event.
Panel discussions
A series of panel discussions are being held on the second day of the conference. During the discussions, experts address the integration of mine action policies into urban recovery processes, the use of innovative technologies to improve land clearance efficiency, as well as countries' experiences and results achieved in humanitarian mine action.
Strengthening international cooperation
The key goals of the conference are to increase international attention to the mine problem in Azerbaijan, strengthen international cooperation in humanitarian mine action, and discuss the role of mine action in a safe and sustainable recovery process.
The event focuses on exchanging innovative approaches and best practices, as well as mobilizing international efforts to eliminate the mine threat.
The conference is being held on September 2-3.
