On the afternoon of August 20, a charter plane crashed in western Alaska. According to preliminary information, after taking off from Anchorage, the aircraft crashed while on approach to land in the Cape Newenham area, near a remote radar station.
There are reported to be a total of eight people on board the plane — two pilots and six passengers. There is currently no precise information regarding their fate and condition.
The causes of the incident are not yet known. The circumstances under which the crash occurred and why the plane lost control during landing are being investigated.
Following reports of the crash, the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center launched a search and rescue operation. Rescue operations are continuing in the area.
