Reserve Lieutenant Colonel of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Tzuri Sagi has passed away at the age of 92. Over his long military career, he held important positions in the paratrooper units of the Israeli army and took part in a number of special operations.
Tzuri Sagi began his military service in the 1950s. His 32-year military career was spent serving in various combat and operational units.
He served in the regular paratrooper brigade of the Israeli army, as well as in reserve paratrooper units. Later, leading various regional brigades, he was responsible for conducting military operations and security measures in the areas under his responsibility.
The colonel was particularly known for his participation in secret operations supporting Kurdish forces in northern Iraq and the role he played in the Kurdish rebels’ struggle against the Iraqi army.
Even after completing his service in the Israeli army, Tzuri Sagi remained one of the well-known figures in the military and security fields.
