Off the coast of Ukraine, near Odesa, at around 3:00 p.m. local time, the civilian merchant vessel Atlas Bey, owned by the Turkish company Okean Maritime, was struck by a drone attack. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued an official statement regarding the incident.
Condition of the Crew
According to the MFA, 11 crew members on board the vessel, including the captain, are Azerbaijani citizens.
With the exception of the captain, the remaining crew members were brought ashore in the city of Odesa. Their condition is reported to be satisfactory.
Search for the Captain
The whereabouts of the ship’s captain, an Azerbaijani citizen, have not yet been determined. According to the MFA, relevant measures are being taken to locate him.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine remains in constant contact with the relevant state authorities and is ensuring that the Azerbaijani citizens aboard the vessel receive the necessary consular assistance.
