Following intelligence provided by Israel to the U.S., the White House has increased security for President Donald Trump and several high-ranking administration officials.
According to claims in the Israeli media, the intelligence report suggests that Iran may be preparing a potential attack plan against Trump.
During Donald Trump's recent visit to Turkey, he was presented with intelligence regarding a discussed plan in Tehran that could pose a direct threat to the U.S. President. Although the information has not been fully confirmed, security agencies deemed it serious enough to decide on additional protective measures.
Warnings regarding the threat were also conveyed to several of Trump's high-ranking advisors. They were advised against using personal vehicles and certain transportation services due to the risk of a potential assassination attempt.
Security measures also affected Trump's return from Turkey to the U.S. An older "Air Force One" aircraft was used for the President's flight. It is reported that this was due to concerns regarding the reliability of the security system on the luxury aircraft provided to Trump by Qatar.
The leakage of the reasons for the changes in the flight plan to the media has caused concern within the White House. Donald Trump described this as a breach of security protocols and demanded that the source of the information leak be identified.
An internal investigation is currently underway at the White House. As part of the investigation, several administration staff members have been asked to surrender their mobile phones. The goal is to determine how classified information regarding the President's security was leaked from the administration.
