A major development has shifted the political agenda in Turkey. Former Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Ozgur Ozel has announced his resignation from the CHP after signing the founding documents of a newly established political party (Yeni Partiya). Along with him, a total of 91 deputies have also left the CHP to join the Founders' Council of the New Party.
Ozel stated that the New Party will become Turkey's main opposition force based on the number of deputies.
Ozgur Ozel: May this be auspicious for our homeland, our nation, our party, and all of us.
Ozgur Ozel subsequently removed the "CHP Chairman" title from his profile on the "X" social network. He also shared a post featuring Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's words, "The peasant is the master of the nation," sending a symbolic message regarding this new political phase.
