The agenda for NATO’s summit scheduled to be held in Ankara on July 7-8 has been finalized. Burhanettin Duran, head of the Public Relations Department of the Turkish President’s Administration, disclosed the key topics in a post on the X social network. According to him, threats to the Euro-Atlantic region, the Ukraine issue, and the latest situation on NATO’s southern flank will be at the center of leaders’ attention.
What is on the agenda?
«At the summit, steps taken in accordance with decisions on increasing defense budgets within the framework of the comprehensive approach concept will be assessed, as well as the alliance’s efforts and achievements in security and defense. Leaders will also exchange views at the strategic level on threats, risks, and challenges to the Euro-Atlantic region. The situation in Ukraine and recent developments on NATO’s southern flank will be discussed».
According to Duran’s statement, the North Atlantic Council meeting on July 8 will be held in the format of heads of state and government. The host of the event will be Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Summit scale: 32 countries, 100 ministers
Heads of state and government from 32 member countries will participate in the summit. Additionally, nearly 100 ministers will attend the meetings within the framework of the event. To ensure security in the summit area, more than 56,000 law enforcement personnel have been mobilized. This clearly demonstrates the high priority given to the event.
