The death toll from a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck western Colombia on Monday has exceeded 200. Search and rescue operations continue in affected areas as specialists race to find people trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
On Tuesday, a 32-year-old woman was rescued alive from under the debris. Meanwhile, many residents in the region remain missing. One of the municipalities affected by the natural disaster was the city of Cali.
The large-scale disaster is the first major test for Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, who officially took office as head of state last Friday.
