On August 12, a rare astronomical event will take place — a total solar eclipse. The path of totality will pass through Greenland, Iceland, and Spain.
Millions of residents in the Northern Hemisphere will be able to observe the partial obscuration of the sun. The partial phase of the eclipse will be visible across most of Europe, North America, and Northwest Africa.
A special broadcast featuring experts is scheduled for the event. The broadcast will start at 17:45 British Summer Time (16:45 GMT, 19:45 Moscow time).
The eclipse will be commented on by astronomer and author of «Understandable Space: From Quark to Quasar» Vladimir Surdin, astrophysicist and science popularizer Kirill Maslennikov, science journalist Ilya Kolmanovsky (designated a «foreign agent» in Russia), correspondent Alexei Kalmykov, and Greenland-based artist Galya Morrell.
