On August 10, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Mindauqas Sinkevičius made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan reported on this.
During the phone conversation, the positive dynamics observed in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania in recent times were highlighted with satisfaction. In this regard, the visit of former Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Inga Ruginienė to Azerbaijan in April of this year and her discussions with President Ilham Aliyev were recalled.
The head of state congratulated Mindauqas Sinkevičius on his election as Prime Minister of Lithuania. Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, Mindauqas Sinkevičius stated that as Prime Minister, he would always keep the development of bilateral relations in focus.
During the talks, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania in the energy field, particularly ensuring energy security and increasing trade turnover, was reviewed in detail.
The Prime Minister of Lithuania conveyed his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev on the anniversary of the Washington Peace Summit and the agreements reached there. The President of Azerbaijan expressed his gratitude for the congratulations.
Azerbaijan-European Union relations were also discussed during the conversation. It was noted that high-level contacts carried out recently have made a substantial contribution to the development of cooperation, and it was emphasized that Lithuania continuously supports the expansion of Azerbaijan's relations with the European Union.
President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Mindauqas Sinkevičius also exchanged views on the current situation in the international arena.
