Honduras, July 14 — A medical mission of ophthalmologists sent from Israel to Honduras has successfully performed eye surgeries on 136 people.
According to reports, Israeli doctors examined a total of 155 patients, and 136 of them underwent surgical interventions for various eye diseases. The humanitarian mission was organized following a request made by the President of Honduras.
It is reported that while the prevalence of eye diseases in Honduras is high, the number of specialized ophthalmologists is insufficient. For this reason, Israel sent a special medical team consisting of experienced eye doctors to the country.
Within the scope of the mission, Israeli specialists did not limit themselves to treating patients alone, but also shared their experience with local doctors, supporting the enhancement of their professional skills.
Emanuel Shuval, an ophthalmologist at Israel's Sheba Hospital, stated that it was possible to establish effective cooperation with his Honduran colleagues in a short period of time, and the joint work has been progressing successfully.
Israel has also clarified that it will continue to support Honduras. In the near future, the delivery of new ophthalmological equipment to the country and the deployment of the next group of doctors are planned.
It should be noted that in recent periods, cooperation between Israel and Honduras in various fields, including the healthcare sector, is expanding further. The Honduran government has stated that it attaches special importance to developing relations with Israel.
