An explosion occurred during a rally organized by the National Citizen Party (NCP), a movement founded by students in Bangladesh.
The incident took place in Savar district near the capital Dhaka at approximately 21:45 local time. According to initial reports, at least three people were injured as a result of the explosion.
The NCP leadership stated that the incident was a bomb attack directed against the rally. The explosion occurred during the exit and subsequently participants held a march in protest of the attack.
The causes of the incident have not yet been officially disclosed. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation in the area.
